In the present age of online banking you really don't need to transfer your bank account from one branch office to the other as you can operate your account through many alternate channels like ATM Card,Internet Banking,Mobile Banking,UPI and E-Wallets etc.
Therefore,we recommend that you tranfser the account only in case it is utmost necessary. This is because when you transfer you bank account to the other branch(Particularly when we are talking about Indian Banking system) ,the IFSC Code which is a unique code given to every bank branch in India gets changed.
And if you have registered your bank account with any mutual funds or you have registered ECS mandates for you Loan EMIs or any other purposes then surely you have to update those details to the particular agency. This task could be very cumbersome if you are a professional and is not able to spare much time for these kind of tasks.
On the other hand the normal banking transactions of the bank like withdrawal can be done with help of ATM cards and Check Books.Although you may be able to withdraw a limited sum of money from theses channles depending upon bank to bank and card to card types. Normally its Rs.50000/- for withdrawal through ATM Card and cash withdrawal at non base branches (means a branch other than the branch where you are maintaining your bank account).
But on the other side if are tech friendly or internet friendly then Mobile banking , E-banking or Internet Banking will be very much helpful for you in this case because the daily transaction limits for these channels are very much higher than the cash withdrawal limits in case of ATM Cards and Check Books.
This limit varies from Re.1/- to Rs.5,00,000/- daily or may be even higher depending on the bank you are dealing with. The transactions through these channels are very much secure with two-step authentications ,so you don't need to worry much about the security.
